Freeda Womb — the 20-Foot IUD — Heads to Europe to Expose the Cost of Blocking Contraception
Contraception Is Care

Americans for Contraception is fighting to protect our right to plan our families. Ninety percent of Americans support birth control – but almost 500 elected representatives have voted against this right. Meanwhile, online movements are spreading stigma and misinformation about birth control. Contraception is care – and we need to protect it.
Americans for Contraception is a U.S. non-profit organization that engages solely on U.S. policy issues. We are not working on behalf of, and we are not funded by any foreign individual or entity. We are independent Americans who care about the right to contraception and we’re calling on the Trump administration to reverse its senseless order to destroy nearly $10 million in existing contraceptives rather than provide them to women in need.
Taking the fight global
Freeda’s European Tour will shine a light on the Trump administration’s order to destroy nearly $10 million in U.S.-funded contraceptives sitting in Belgian warehouses. The order — based on the false claim that contraception is an “abortifacient” — has left lifesaving medicine gathering dust instead of reaching women who need it. The tour will expose the cruelty and waste behind blocking taxpayer-funded contraceptives.
When extremists attack contraception, they’re not just targeting freedom — they’re denying people lifesaving care. Contraception is health care, and treating it as anything less is both a moral and public-health failure.
- As things stand, an estimated 257 million women worldwide had an unmet need for safe and reliable contraception. Recent cuts to international cooperation budgets are making the situation worse: every cut to a budget is going to result in contraceptive stock-outs, clinic closures and preventable maternal deaths.
- In 2026, the five donor governments that fund 83% of global contraception in low and middle-income countries have expressed an intention to reduce funding for their international aid programs. The United States has said it will eliminate all family planning funding, and budget cuts in the other four countries could potentially result in lower funding levels for family planning.
